About M4M

Our History

Made4Me was founded in 2017 with a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves the opportunity to participate fully in life.

Our story began when two friends traveled to New York City to learn how to build adaptive furniture and equipment using Tri-Wall, an industrial-strength cardboard known for its durability, strength, and versatility. What they discovered was more than a material. They found a way to create custom, affordable assistive technologies that could be designed around the individual, not the diagnosis.

In our first year, Made4Me served just a handful of families. But word spread quickly. Families, therapists, and educators saw the difference that custom-made adaptations could make in daily life — helping children sit safely in classrooms, move independently at home, and engage alongside peers. Each project reinforced our belief that mobility is more than movement. It is access.

Today, Made4Me has grown into a statewide nonprofit. With increasing demand for our custom work, we currently serve families within a three-hour drive of our facility, allowing us to remain hands-on, responsive, and deeply connected to each family we support. Since 2017, we have supported 217 families, partnered with 36 schools, and created approximately 850 custom assistive technologies for use in homes, classrooms, therapy settings, and community spaces. Every device we build is provided free of charge and designed through a person-centered process that includes families, caregivers, educators, and therapists.

In addition to building custom adaptations, Made4Me is deeply committed to community and inclusion. Our volunteer-powered workshop brings together individuals with and without disabilities to learn, create, and serve side by side. Through these experiences, we not only build equipment, but also foster empathy, confidence, collaboration, and belonging.

As we look to the future, our vision remains clear: a world where people with disabilities have equitable, timely access to the tools they need to live with independence, dignity, and opportunity. At Made4Me, we will continue to meet individuals where they are, remove barriers, and make abilities possible — one custom solution at a time.
